This is a lovely Antique French white cotton dress that is made of the finest, lightest cotton in a crisp white. This is a beautiful example of antique lingerie that is pretty enough to wear now as a proper dress. It is constructed from a of a soft, draped, finely woven cotton batiste in a pristine white. The cut is kept simple with a high set bodice and capped sleeves. The edges of the neckline, the waist seam and the sleeves are finished with flat layered pleat detailing. The skirt flows to the floor and widens out as it nears the hem.  Another layer of that same flat pleat detail sits at the hem and a few inches about the hem as ell. The skirt has an incredible amount of fabric in it. The back buttons to close and there is a sweet, and unexpected crocheted flower detail at the hem that just seem to be there to add a special hidden flourish that only the owner would have known existed. It is a wonderful example of the time period and with the proper undergarments would make a wonderful, proper dress to be worm out in our modern times. Unlined and buttons at the back. The buttons and the snap at the waist appear to be vintage but more modern then the time period of the dress originally so were replacements at some point. There is a small storage mark near the hem (photoed) and one stable, thinned area also near the he (photoed). Otherwise in remarkable antique condition.
